Welcome to Harpers Ferry

Shoreham-by-Sea Bed and Breakfast

Harpers Ferry is a unique, privately owned guest house offering deluxe accommodation in a traditional 'New England' style house, just a stones throw from the delightful Shoreham Beach, 10 minutes walk from Shoreham-by-Sea mainline train station and 5 minutes away from the wide variety of restaurants and bars. It is perfect for a weekend getaway, a beach-side holiday or a quiet haven for business professionals.

This unique American designed house has been used for film shoots by location companies and has been featured in interior design magazines. Indeed, the house was commissioned to be built at the beginning of the new Millenium 2000 as a tribute to the American way of life. The house is an informal looking building completely suiting the nature of Shoreham Beach as well as being aesthetically attractive with it's front porch and open plan interior housing many American artifacts collected from numerous trips to the States. Even the name of the house is taken from a small town in West Virginia steeped in American history. Visit our Harpers Ferry history page for further information.

The front porch typifies the American timber properties of the East and West coasts of the States. It has been said that it was the most important area of Southern houses as it was normally too hot inside during the day. The 'stoop' was used for 'shellin', 'shuckin', 'romancin' and 'fellowshippin'. So just imagine sipping a cool beer or glass of wine while watching the sun go down after a great day out - what more could anyone want?

Harpers Ferry is only seven miles from the cosmopolitan city of Brighton, only an hour by train to London and we are within easy reach of Shoreham (Brighton and City) and Gatwick airports. For further details on our location, please visit our Harpers Ferry location page.

Shoreham-by-sea has a vast array of restaurants and pubs a short walk away from Harpers Ferry and we are located within easy reach of the rambling South Downs, ideal for walking, cycling and other outdoor activities, such as kite surfing, canoeing and sailing.
